DR. SYDE A. TAHERI, MD, HONORED BY D’YOUVILLETaheri Selected to Receive 2006 Achievement in Health Care Award
Dr. Syde A. Taheri, clinical assistant professor of surgery at University at Buffalo and award-winning inventer, has been selected to receive the 2006 D’Youville College Achievement in Health Care Award. Dr. Taheri is one of two recipients to be honored with this annual award.
Dr. Taheri has received worldwide recognition with his invention of the Talent Thoracic Stent Graft, a life-saving device used throughout the world to treat patients at risk of – or suffering from – thoracic aneurysms. It is now undergoing clinical trials in the United States for FDA approval.
He is currently conducting exciting research through University at Buffalo that could potentially save the lives and/or quality of life of millions of people.
Dr. Taheri is a retired cardiovascular and thoracic surgeon who is now focusing much of his time on research, including laboratory work. He is invited worldwide to speak with fellow surgeons about his innovative, life-saving treatments, which include renovating the heart muscle of heart-attack patients and repairing aneurysms. He is president of the Western New York Vascular Society and also consults for several companies.
Dr. Taheri said he is honored to be recognized by D’Youville for his continuing efforts to improve healthcare for Western New Yorkers and people throughout the world.
