Dr. Syde A. Taheri, is honored to become a full clinical professor at the University at Buffalo School of Medicine and Biological Sciences. He was promoted to the position of professor after having become an assistant clinical professor in the 1970's.
Dr. Merril Dayton, MD, professor and chairman of the department of surgery at University of Buffalo, supported Taheri through the promotion process after noting the breadth of Taheri's accomplishments and publications.
Dr. Taheri has received worldwide recognition with his invention of the Talent Thoracic Stent Graft, a life-saving device used throughout the world to treat patients at risk of – or suffering from – thoracic aneurysms. It is now undergoing clinical trials in the United States for FDA approval.
He is currently developing a similar stent graft, the Taheri-LaDuca Endovascular System, to treat patients with aortic aneurysms.
Dr. Taheri is a retired cardiovascular and thoracic surgeon who is now focusing much of his time on research, including laboratory work. He is invited worldwide to speak with fellow surgeons about his innovative, life-saving treatments, which include renovating the heart muscle of heart-attack patients and repairing aneurysms.
